Choosing the Work Model
Work model – analysis of various models, e.g. directly
vis-?-vis the developer, project management by DTC, etc. Advantages
and disadvantages of each method
Relations with the software supplier
- Defining clear responsibility
- Clear timetable
- Measuring performance
- Quality control. The supplier's compliance with the
standard:
- ISO9001:2000
- At least CMMI Level 3, preferably CMMI Level 5
- Defining inspection points along the way (milestones) in order
to ensure the proper track
- Familiarity with the supplier directly or via an Israeli
representative office
- The working language of the project. Since this is a common
denominator, the working language must be English. In Eastern
European countries, it is sometimes necessary to yield to the local
language, which causes problems in quality control vis-?-vis the
code and its acceptance by the customer.
- Building a framework for reports and maintaining contact via
e-mail and conference calls
Model for Making Contact with the Supplier
Do it yourself – This is, of course, the most complex alternative.
Its implementation requires the following actions:
- Deciding on the project performance goals, a development
center, selected projects, and the like
- Dispatching a representative for initial overtures
- Manning a delegation of senior employees and decision
makers
- Dispatching the group to check out the supplier
- Examining the group's capabilities
- Finalizing agreements
Making Contact via an Israeli Representative – DTC Systems
- Significantly shortening times in making the contact
- Relying on previous experience
- Lowering costs: eliminating the expensive, wearying process of
searching for suitable companies
- A shortened process of examining the supplier's abilities
- Reducing risks
- The possibility of developing small outsourcing packages at a
cost of 10,000 dollars and above
